Katharina Husslein’s latest series marries vivid seascape painting with sumptuous textile art. Each work opens onto a breezy coastal vista -turquoise waters lapping beneath distant, pastel-hued mountains -rendered in fluid, expressive brushstrokes. Around these painted “windows,” hand-tufted yarn in jewel-bright blues, pinks, purples, and teals creates a plush, mosaic-like frame that echoes the scene’s colors and forms: looping tufts suggest rippling water or swaying palm fronds, while denser piles evoke flowering shrubs on a sun-lit terrace. The result is an immersive interplay of sight and touch, where Husslein’s painterly landscape and the tactile yarn border seamlessly extend one another into a single, enchanting tableau.
