Hormels second body of work are joyful geometric abstractions of female bodies, with color parcels interacting or overlapping. Her figures come in all shapes and sizes, yet the women are at ease with their bodies and simply enjoy their movements - whether it be dancing or reclining or hugging…

Portraying women is an important factor for Hormel. Especially within art it is vital to value different perspectives, behaviors and aspirations to portray diversity. Women are still underrepresented in the art world and around the world women are still fighting for equal rights.

Women need equal ease of access to resources and opportunities, including economic participation and decision-making for societies to thrive and flourish. But women also need to learn to form better networks amongst each other, to break that glass ceiling and help each other achieve their goals.

In Hormels paintings the women are thriving, full of life, vibrant and joyful. Connected to each other by various colors and thus form of a bigger picture together.
