Contemporary painter living and working in Cardiff, Wales UK.

Aidan regularly exhibits and has permanent collections of his work in Wales and London.

Each of Aidan’s paintings are self-informing due to the prominent visual and physical qualities of the paint. The tensions between figure and ground are main focuses of the paintings, including figural allusions within the compositions. Aidan has developed his own techniques to apply paint using an array. of tools and brushes to create distinctive & diverse marks upon the canvasses. This allows for dynamic sculptural textures and surfaces to develop upon the images.

Large-scale painting allows for an opportunity for the viewer to become completely immersed within the composition. Dynamic sculptural textures, colour and form allows the viewer to examine more closely and visually enter the image.

The viewer may respond to the materiality of the paint to gain individual perceptions into personal emotions, anxieties and experiences of life, whilst the image itself may inform visual sensations.

The paintings are on the edge between figure and abstraction, with a tendency to be sculptural, which is influenced by a combination of work by Frank Auerbach, Francis Bacon, Lucian Freud & Jenny Saville.
