Laurent Maes is an artist working and living in Brussels, Belgium. His medium is Photography.

Modern ships can be so immense that you rarely get a chance to see them in their entirety, let alone looking straight down from above. The photographs of Laurent Maes provide such a perspective, showcasing every shapely detail of giant yachts and freighters.

Laurent Maes shipshape project shows ships (and some of the world's tallest and most exclusive super yachts, among others the Starck designed 'Venus' for the Steve Jobs family) as graphic objects in the highest possible definition with incredible precision. The beautiful graphic shape of the ships -all shot from above- is brought with an absolute eye for detail, symmetry, pure lines and vibrant colours.

It's unclear how exactly the series of photographs are created. But we feel the mystery of how they are made only adds to the experience.
